Longitudingal Data Store

November 21, 2013  |   Posted by :   |     |   Comments Off on Longitudingal Data Store»

Definition: A longitudinal data store holds data in a format optimized for linking records across years and across entities (e.g., schools, districts, etc.).

What This Means: Not everything needs to be linked across years–or can be. Many processes do not need to be held up waiting for the LDS to be created. So a separate LDS makes sense. The LDS can also grow quite large over time and needs to be scaled carefully. Tasks that do not require longitudinal data can be taken care of by the other data stores.
